Merry Christmas and a Successful Start to the New Year

For Comartis, the year now coming to a close has been many-faceted and crowned with success. 2005 was not only characterized by highly interesting and innovative projects and increasing order volumes, but also by international activities. In 2005, Comartis participated for the first time in the ASTD exhibition for e-learning in the US and actively took part in the AICC Conference in Helsinki, making a presentation (see July 2005 newsletter ). Moreover, Comartis Casablanca nearly doubled its staff size.

In fall 2005, there were two occasions calling for celebration: in October, Comartis had its 10 year anniversary and one month later, IDEE SUISSE awarded Comartis’ CEO the title "Innovative Entrepreneur of the Year 2005".
The Comartis team is looking forward to an exciting 2006 and wishes all customers and newsletter readers a peaceful and joyous Christmas season and a successful New Year!

e-Learning from a Global Perspective – Three Successful Days at the Online Educa Berlin 2005

This year, Comartis has participated for the second time in the Online Educa which took place from 30th November to 2nd December 2005 in Berlin. During these three days, the international e-Learning community met in the German capital to mutually exchange information across country and industry borders. This year’s 1 890 participants from 73 countries topped the previous year’s result once again. On this occasion, Comartis introduced the new i-qBox 5.0 to the international audience. The presentation “Boosting the Enterprise Learning Process with Fully Integrated Learning Quality Management" by Frank Schnäbele and Omar Lahyani portrayed the practical implementation of Comartis' quality management solution at Credit Suisse Business School.

i-qBox 5.0 based on Microsoft-.NET yet more powerful

After a development phase of almost 8 months, the new i-qBox version 5.0 is now available.

Comartis managed to further improve and optimize the i-qBox solution in various ways with the sophisticated possibilities of .NET Framework by adapting the entire e-learning solution to the promising .NET technology. The new i-qBox 5.0 functionality includes the following:

- Use as a multithreading system for better  scalability
- New question type “Hotspot“
- Improved workflow for LMS login
- Flexible, XML-based system configuration
- Generation of complex PDF files for certificates

I-qBox – Further Development of the RAIFFEISENacademy

Since the beginning of December 2004, when regarding e-Testing, the Raiffeisen bank has relied on the i-qBox e-Learning Solution  by Comartis for the education of its approximately 9 000 qualified employees. The interest in e-Learning has grown considerably since the introduction of the first e-Learning measures and the potential of Blended Learning has been clearly recognized. Therefore, a new aim was set: further development of the current content strategy to a comprehensive learning process strategy.

From July to November 2005, the system was extended to a complete learning platform. Of central importance to this project was the connection of the existing education management system (X.EDU) to the i-qBox e-Learning solution. Now, all Raiffeisen employees have online access to the entire learning catalog.

Analogous to a Blended Learning approach, it is possible to expand existing curricula on the learning platform with learning objects such as WBTs, e-Tests, feedback forms and additional documents. Registrations for events are transferred directly back to X.EDU via an XML interface.

The group-wide education controlling approach is based on the information stored in the learning platform and in the HR system.

A special Gallery platform was developed for the luxury Silver Rain Collection – “the fragrance from la prairie”. For data exchange, advertising material distribution and product forecasts, Silver Rain counts on the e-Business product
i-BizBox by Comartis, which was utilized in the development of the Gallery. Silver Rain adds to Comartis' Gallery portfolio which already comprises La Prairie, Juvena, Marlies Möller and SBT.

ZVV – Magical New Year’s Eve

 This year, Switzerland’s biggest New Year’s party is celebrated in Zurich once more. This is already the fifth time that the Magical New Year’s Eve’s unique fireworks light up the city’s sky. Zurich expects about 200 000 visitors for this event. As in the past years, Comartis again provided a special timetable site for the extra runs of the Zürcher Verkehrsbund.

IDEE SUISSE Award

In the presence of S.E. Mohammed Guédira, the Moroccan ambassador, and Monika Kruesi from the Federal Office for Professional Education and Technology (OPET), IDEE SUISSE awarded Omar Lahyani, the CEO of Comartis, the title "Innovative Entrepreneur of the Year 2005" on 23rd November 2005 in Zurich. In his speech of thanks, Omar Lahyani pointed out that this success was only possible with the help of his partner Andreas R. Plimpton and the entire Comartis team. After the ceremony, the numerous guests enjoyed an oriental buffet in a Moroccan atmosphere.
